It is believed that Nancy, the wife of William D. McKee, was a Bowie before she married.
No records have been found to prove or disprove this theory.
Apparently there was a Bowie connection somehow and they were close neighbors.
Matilda, the oldest daughter of William and Nancy, married Henry Brawner Bowie. He was the son of Eli Bowie and Katherine Franklin.
It is very likely that there was a connection, although it is currently unknown.
Eli Bowie moved to Abbeville from Charles County, Maryland. Eli Bowie raised 6 sons and a daughter. He was instrumental in founding Gilgal Methodist Church.
