Michael McKee Craftman

In the fall of 2015, I was working temporarily in Abbeville, SC and had the opportunity to once again visit the Michael McKee home and visit with the owners.  The owners had lived there for 20 years and just sold the house to a new family.  The owners took me around the house and allowed me to go inside and look around.  I’d been to the house before but never inside, so this was very exciting.

The home was built by Michael McKee and over 20 acres of land still exist of the McKee land today.  Below you will see the original brickwork on the foundation of the house, chimney and 2nd story fireplace which still exist today.

When Michael McKee moved his family to Missouri, he sold his home and land to Eli Bowie.  {The Bowie’s would eventually intermarry with the McKee’s}.  The Bowie family owned the land for several generations before selling to other owners who are of no family relation.

As you can see, Michael McKee was a master brick mason.
