..Household #1050 on 1850C

..A “sad story” passed down concerning Olive’s death (validity not established) relates that Olive

was ill for some time before her death, perhaps in a coma.  A mirror was placed under her nose

to ascertain whether she was still breathing.  According to the story Silas gave an instruction  to ”

bury her” even though not all signs of life had terminated.  If true, this would roughly correspond

to “pulling the plug” on a twentieth century life support system upon giving up of hope for

recovery.

….Jefferson County Estate #2460 relates to Silas, #1094 to a Walter Belew (son or Silas’ father?)
